A practical review of the Hyperkin Overworld PlayStation Case, covering its durable design, organized interior, and who it's best for.
Quick answer
The Hyperkin Overworld PlayStation Case is a durable, well-organized backpack that protects your PS5, laptop, and accessories during travel or daily commutes.
Why the outer shell matters
The Hyperkin Overworld Case features a firm outer shell that shields your gear from bumps and light moisture. This is a key advantage over soft-sided bags when you're commuting or tossing the case into a car trunk.
Keep in mind that while the shell resists light moisture, it is not fully waterproof. If you regularly face heavy rain, you may want an additional rain cover.
Interior organization for everyday carry
Inside, you'll find a padded compartment that fits a laptop or portable monitor, plus a dedicated tablet sleeve. This makes the Overworld Case a practical choice if you need to carry both your PlayStation and a work or school device in one bag.
The layout also includes smaller pockets for cables, controllers, and other accessories. However, the case does not have a dedicated, foam-cutout insert for a specific PS5 model. You will need to arrange your console and accessories carefully to avoid shifting during transit.
How to decide if this case is right for you
- Need a multi-device carry solution?: If you regularly travel with a PS5, a laptop, and a tablet, the Overworld Case's padded compartments and tablet sleeve let you carry everything in one organized backpack.
- Worried about bumps and light rain?: The firm outer shell provides solid protection against impacts and light moisture. For heavy downpours, consider adding a separate rain cover. Check local weather before relying on the case alone in wet conditions.
- Need a custom foam cutout for your console?: The Overworld Case uses a general padded interior rather than a custom-molded insert. If you want a snug, pre-cut fit for a specific PS5 model, look for a dedicated hard-shell case with foam inserts. Use soft packing cubes or cloth wraps to secure your console and accessories inside this bag.
